Disclaimer

What the material on this site is, and the limits of what it can be used for.

Not professional advice

Everything published by New Contingent is editorial material describing published research. It is not financial, legal, employment, tax, medical or psychological advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows an individual situation. Decisions with financial, legal or health consequences warrant professional input, which this site does not provide and cannot provide.

Emergencies and crisis support

New Contingent is not a crisis service and does not monitor correspondence outside normal working hours. Anyone in immediate danger, or concerned about the immediate safety of another person, should contact local emergency services or a local crisis line directly. In Brazil, emergency numbers include 190 for police and 192 for ambulance, and the Centro de Valorização da Vida operates a support line on 188. Elsewhere, the local emergency number and local support services are the right first call.

No warranty

Material is prepared carefully from named sources, but it is provided as it stands, without warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. Research is revised over time, and a summary that reflected the literature at the date of publication may be overtaken by later work. Where a source is disputed, that dispute is described in the article rather than resolved by this site.

No claim of results

No outcome is promised, implied or estimated anywhere on this site. The material is not a method, system, formula, protocol or sequence of steps, and reading it is not presented as producing any change in any circumstance.

No testimonials

New Contingent does not publish testimonials, reviews, endorsements, case studies, success stories or before-and-after accounts, in editorial material or in advertising, and does not solicit them. Any such account presented elsewhere as originating from this project did not come from it.

Nothing is assumed about the reader

This site is written in the third person throughout and presumes no circumstance, employment arrangement, income, financial position, relationship or state of health on the part of anyone reading it. Articles describe the populations that researchers studied. Nothing published here should be read as a statement about, or an inference concerning, the situation of any individual reader.

External references

Research and institutions named on this site are named for attribution. Naming them does not imply that they endorse New Contingent, are affiliated with it, or have reviewed how their work has been described here.
